Washington’s Digital Learning Access Grant Program

The 2018 legislature appropriated $900,000 "to leverage federal funding from the e-rate program…to enable more student access to digital learning." OSPI is managing these funds through a matching state grant program designed to assist public school districts in improving student instruction and assessment through the use of information technology.
These 34 districts were selected through an application process to receive matching state funding for network infrastructure improvements:

- Jan, 2019 Districts award RFPs, file Form 471, finalize grant request
- Feb, 2019 OSPI finalizes state match for applicants
- Feb, 2019 Category 1 special construction (fiber install) begins
- Apr. 1, 2019 Category 2 hardware purchase/installation begins (Wi-Fi)
- June 30, 2019 Construction ends; final district expenditures completed
- Summer, 2019 Districts file for E-rate discount and OSPI grant reimbursement
