New e-Certification for Washington State Educators

Goodbye paper trail! OSPI will soon be introducing an online service for Washington state K–12 educators to manage their professional certifications and endorsements.

The new e-Certification service allows educators to take care of the most common tasks completely online, like applying for a credential, monitoring their application status, and printing permits and certificates.

The service is scheduled to launch in late 2013. Those with certificates expiring in June 2014 will be the first to take advantage of the service for renewals.

The change from a paper-based process to a secure online process will eventually decrease the turnaround time for applications. School districts will also benefit with anytime access to information on a prospective employee, resulting in faster hiring. The information gathered within e-Certification will provide valuable data on educators in our state for policymakers and researchers.

More details will be available on www.k12.wa.us/certification as the launch date approaches.
