Program Requirements
To qualify for Title IIA funds, each school district must conduct an assessment of local needs for professional development and hiring. There should be a clear connection between identified needs and Title IIA activities.
- Complete a comprehensive needs assessment to identify the subject matter knowledge and teaching skills needed to provide students with the opportunity to meet state student academic achievement standards.
- Develop a comprehensive and collaborative plan to use Title II Part A funds.
- Submit annually an application on iGrants to the Title II Part A office at the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction.
- Complete an annual performance report on iGrants.
Consistent with local planning requirements and its needs assessment, the Title II, Part A program offers an LEA the flexibility to design and implement a wide variety of activities. See allowable costs.
Private schools may access Title II Part A funds for professional development that meets the needs of their teachers. Planning for this professional development occurs through a consultation process between private school and school district personnel before the school district submits its Title II Part A application on iGrants. School districts will find a formula on iGrants which calculates the amount of funding needed to reserve for “equitable services” for private school professional development activities.
