Assessment and Student Information develops or selects and administers all state assessments and provides achievement data for students, schools, districts and the state.
Career and College Readiness
Career and College Readiness works to promote the quality and rigor of Career and Technical Education and Secondary Education courses, provide students with options that link middle school to high school and to post-secondary opportunities, blend academic and technical studies, and connect students to their goals for the future.
Certification supports and verifies the preparation, advancement, and continuing education for individual certification applicants, ensuring they meet or exceed state requirements.
Child Nutrition assists school districts and other program sponsors in providing quality nutrition programs that promote life-long healthful living while providing nutritious meals each day that prepare children for learning.
Communications and Community Outreach
The OSPI Communications office serves as the central point of contact for local, regional and national media covering K-12 education issues. Communications oversees the agency's primary Web site, Twitter and Facebook accounts.
Educator Growth and Development
The Executive office, led by Superintendent Chris Reykdal, oversees internal agency operations and external agency programs.
Financial Resources works with local school systems in the appropriate expenditure and reporting of state and federal education funds, and provides payments of both state and federal resources to local school systems and other entities as appropriate.
Information Technology Services
IT supports the agency's technological requirements, data reporting, and overall infrastructure.
K-12 System Supports (Education)
K-12 Education provides leadership and resources to Washington state schools and counselors who ready students for academic success and career preparation.
Learning and Teaching
Learning and Teaching provides leadership, service and support for the development and implementation of research-based learning standards and curriculum to ensure that all learners achieve at high levels. Subject areas include:
School Facilities & Organization
School Facilities oversees several programs, including the School Construction Assistance Program that provides funding assistance for facility planning, new construction and modernizations of school buildings.
Special Programs & Federal Accountability
Special Programs & Federal Accountability, through both state and federal programs -- including the Elementary and Secondary Education Act -- assists school districts in raising the academic achievement of students who face the challenges of disability, poverty, second language acquisition, learning difficulty, and mobility.
Special Education oversees the state and federal services that are provided to special education students in Washington.
System and School Improvement
System and School Improvement (OSSI) provides leadership, technical assistance and resources to support school and district continuous improvement efforts focused on preparing every student for post-secondary aspirations, career, and life.
Student Support assists schools and districts to develop and improve systems that support student academic success, and collaborates with other agencies around the needs of children, families, and communities.
Transportation provides essential services to support the safe and efficient transportation of the students of Washington state.
