Frequently Asked Questions About Alternative Learning Experience Requirements.

Can alternative learning experiences be used for home-based students?  
Answer:  WAC 392-121-182 - Alternative learning experience requirements 
states in part:  
"An alternative learning experience is an individualized course of study for a student 
who is not home-based pursuant to RCW 28A.225.010(4), 
a private school student pursuant to RCW 28A.225.010(1)(a),
 or an adult education student."

Regarding the requirement in WAC 392-121-182 (2)(d) for a one-on-one meeting with qualified 
district staff, does the meeting have to be face-to-face or can it be through some other means?  
Answer:  The contact time must be face-to-face.

Can a community college report FTE enrollment pursuant to WAC 392-121-182, alternative learning 
experience? 
Answer:  No.  WAC 392-121-182 is for use by school districts not community colleges.  
Colleges providing basic education service pursuant to WAC 392-121-183 must determine and report 
FTE enrollment pursuant to WAC 392-121-107(1)(a).
