Charting our Course: Navigation 101 and the "Road Map" to a
Comprehensive School Counseling Program in Washington State

During 2007-09, a group of school counselors, counselor-educators, and educators worked together to develop a literature for Navigation 101, outlining how Navigation was aligned with a counseling and guidance framework and discussing the next steps toward a statewide counseling and guidance framework.

This paper, “Charting our Course,” is the result of that charge. It was developed with the help of two counselor-educators, Dr. Christine Jensen from Seattle University, and Dr. Christopher Sink from Seattle Pacific University. The paper provides information on the theoretical underpinnings of Navigation 101 and discusses how Navigation can help lead to greater access to careful and creative planning for all students in our state.
