Assessments
Measurements of Student Progress (MSP)
In spring 2010, students took the math Measurements of Student Progress (MSP). The MSP measures the level of progress that Washington students have achieved based on the new Mathematics standards, which were adopted in July 2008.
The math MSP assessment takes place in a single day. It includes multiple-choice, short-answer and completion items.
End-of-Course (EOC) Exams
Beginning in Spring 2011, students will take end-of-course exams in Algebra
1/Integrated Mathematics 1 and Geometry/Integrated Mathematics 2 based on the
2008 Standards. Students in the classes of 2013 and 2014 must pass one EOC or
EOC Retake in order to meet the math graduation requirement. Students in class
of 2015 and beyond who are taking Algebra 1/Integrated Mathematics 1 and/or
Geometry/Integrated Mathematics 2 would still take the Measurements of Student
Progress (MSP) math exam in 7th and 8th grade based on federal Adequate Yearly
Progress rules.
