Mathematics and Reading Benchmark Assessments
The OSPI Benchmark Assessments are standards-based interim assessments that provide ongoing information about the teaching and learning of Common Core State Standards.
OSPI partners with Houghton-Mifflin Harcourt in the use of DataDirector, a Web-based student assessment and data system, for developing the benchmark assessments and reporting their
results. DataDirector offers a flexible and efficient assessment management system that makes creating, administering, analyzing, and reporting all types of assessments easy.
The
Mathematics Benchmark Assessments (MBAs) are standards-based interim
assessments developed for Grades K-8 and Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra II.
Administered in fall, winter, and spring, MBAs provide ongoing information about
teaching and learning in relation to
Common Core State Standards in mathematics. MBAs are entering their 5th year
of implementation; they are currently used in 68 districts serving over 180,000
students.
The Reading Benchmark Assessments (RBAs) are standards-based interim
assessments developed for Grades 1-11. They provide ongoing information about
teaching and learning in relation to
Common Core State Standards
in reading comprehension and vocabulary. RBAs are administered fall, winter, and
spring for Grades 2-11, and winter and spring for Grade 1. The RBAs are entering
their 3rd year of implementation; they’re currently used in 42 districts serving
over 85,000 students.
