The Office of Professional Practices provides information and services to school districts, parents, attorneys, the educational community, government agencies, and the general public in three specific areas: Investigations, Fingerprint Records, and Administrative Resource Services.

Investigations
We examine allegations of unprofessional conduct by educators, and review applications for certification when there is any question concerning good moral character, personal fitness, and/or criminal history record.

Fingerprint Records
We receive background record checks from the Washington State Patrol and the FBI, and enter conviction information into the online Educational Data System (EDS).

Administrative Resource Services
We oversee administrative appeals, rules process, special education due process decisions, State Board of Education elections, Educational Service District (ESD) elections, and the Common School Manual.
