End-of-Course Exit Exams

The end-of-course (EOC) exit exams first administered in spring 2015 (May/June) assess the Mathematics K–12 Learning Standards, also referred to as "the standards".

End-of-Course (EOC) Exit Exam Specifications (updated 9/2016)

Students in the classes of 2015 through 2018 may take EOC exit exams when an appropriate academic course has been completed (Algebra, Geometry, Integrated I or Integrated II) to meet the high school mathematics assessment graduation requirement. The last graduating class that can use an EOC to meet graduation requirements is the class of 2018. Students in the classes of 2019 and beyond will use the Smarter Balanced assessment to meet graduation requirements.

The End-of-Course Exit Exam Specification documents below contain information on the Mathematics K–12 Learning Standards that are eligible to be assessed on the mathematics EOC exit exams. For additional information on assessing the standards, see the Smarter Balanced Item Specification documents for High School Mathematics located at Smarter Balanced Assessments.

Content Focus by Course and the EOC Exit Exams
For the past several years districts, schools, and classroom teachers have worked to align the work in these academic courses to the Mathematics K–12 Learning Standards. The End-of-Course Exit Exam for High School Mathematics Comparison document provides guidance for those educators who have used the Content Focus by Course previously to align coursework to the standards. We recommend, for educators who have used the Content Focus by Course document, using this comparison document to align course work to the standards and assessment system.

EOC Paper-Pencil Supports
This sample test booklet provides supports for students who will take a mathematics EOC exit exam. Educators should read through the EOC Teacher Sample Booklet Companion Materials prior to using the EOC Sample Test Booklet with students.

Questions and Answers (updated 3/2015)
This document contains answers to frequently asked questions about state assessments in mathematics. If you have a question that is not addressed here, email the question to mathematics@k12.wa.us. This document will be updated periodically to reflect common questions.
