Data Governance

K-12 Data Governance is a work group that oversees the development and implementation of a K-12 education data system for financial, student, and educator data. The work group was established by the 2009 Legislature.

The data system is meant to serve requirements for teachers, parents, superintendents, school boards, OSPI, the legislature, and the public.

Data Governance membership includes representatives from school districts, data users, and statewide organizations. Meeting agendas and materials are accessible online.

During the December 16, 2009, meeting of the Data Governance Group the members adopted a manual containing Implementation Guidelines for K-12 Data Governance System. The document outlines the data governance system for establishing the data management policies and priorities for all K-12 data.

The work group is to be periodically reviewed and monitored by the Educational Data Center and the Legislative Evaluation and Accountability Program Committee.
