OSPI Partners with Hyogo Prefecture, Japan
An agreement, signed by Superintendent Randy Dorn and Takai Yoshiro, Hyogo Prefecture Superintendent of Public Instruction, on August 22, 2013, renews the 50-year-old commitment between OSPI and the Hyogo Prefectural Board of Education to support mutual cooperation and education exchange between Hyogo and Washington. Hyogo Prefecture was established as Washington’s sister-state in Japan in 1963, and a delegation from Hyogo, Japan, traveled specially to Washington state in August 2013 to commemorate the 50th anniversary and confirm the mutual understanding and long-standing friendship between Hyogo and Washington.
