Common Core State Standards

For Families and Communities

By the 2014–15 school year, Washington will have new, more focused math and English language arts standards. The new standards will help students better understand and solve real-world problems, getting them ready for college and career opportunities.

Parents and communities are encouraged to learn how the Common Core Standards will prepare students for a successful future. These more rigorous standards may result in a temporary dip in test scores as students adapt to the new learning expectations. We’ve selected some of our favorite resources to get you up to speed.
