OSPI awarded the Computer Science Education Grant for 2018-19, to improve access to computer science and related educational programs in Washington state. The link can be found below. We are looking forward to the next biennium and continued State Legislature support to provide additional funds for another computer science education grant for 2019-2021.

The 2017 Legislative Session Budget Details.

The 2017 Washington State Legislature allocated $1,000,000 of the general fund in Fiscal Year 2018 and $1,000,000 in Fiscal Year 2019 for computer science education (ESSB 5883, Sec. 501, 35). These funds are designated for implementation of teacher training and credentialing in computer science; provide for technology upgrades needed to learn computer science; and for computer science frontiers grants to introduce students to and engage them in computer science.
