21st Century Skills
CTE – Washington believes a comprehensive education culminates in readiness for college, careers and civic responsibility. We believe in students prepared to flourish in a dynamic, global economy.
Over the next two years, CTE – Washington will incorporate 21st century skills as outlined by the
Partnership for 21st Century Skills. State CTE courses will exemplify the intentional synthesis of technical knowledge and skills, traditional academics, and 21st century skills.
CTE programs are aligned with rigorous industry and academic standards. Integrating 21st century skills into all curricula positions CTE as a premier course of study for career and college readiness for all students, and places more students on the path to success.
The Framework for 21st Century Skills gives a holistic view of teaching and learning that combines a focus on 21st century student outcomes (a blending of specific skills, content knowledge, expertise and literacies) with support systems to help students master the multi-dimensional abilities required of them in the 21st century.
